One Killed in Accident at Puttalam rail crossing

A motorcyclist who collided onto a train at the Kalpitiya railway crossing in Palawiya, Puttalam succumbed to his injuries. The incident occured at around 1 a.m. on Monday. Police said another individual was also injured in the accident and has been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital. The deceased individual is a 33-year-resident of Kandy. Residents say that frequent accidents occur in the area due to the absence of a signal light at the railway crossing.
