Land Rover blowout triggers controversy

Video surveillance shows that a black Land Rover car was passing through an intersection in Sanhe, in north China’s Hebei Province, when it suddenly exploded, triggering controversy on China’s Internet. Some people say the owner of the vehicle poured gasoline into where the oil should go. Someone also commented that the car had been planted with a bomb, and somebody even linked the explosion to the Samsung Note 7 mobile phone in the car. According to the Sanhe police department’s Weibo account, after an investigation, it was confirmed that a tire blowout caused the incident. The vehicle hit the road in the middle of the barrier, and the debris led to two cars being damaged on the opposite side, and two people suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Dana Manjhi was forced to take home the body of his wife from the district hospital since he failed to arrange a vehicle on his own. Majhi is a resident of Kalahandi, one of the poorest and most backward districts of Odisha. His 42-year-old Amang Dei was suffering from tuberculosis. After walking nearly 10 km, he met the crew of a local television channel. "I told the hospital authorities that I am a poor man and cannot afford a vehicle. They said they could not offer any help," Majhi told them.

Man survives after jumping from building

A man who tried to kill himself by jumping off a five-story building in Foshan, southern China’s Guangdong Province, survived with only fractures on his leg. In a raw cellphone video, the man is seen standing along the building’s edge as police officers persuaded him for over four hours. But he still decided to jump off. According to the family member, the man is said to be suffering from psychological problems and has attempted to kill himself before, too.

A woman who attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge in Leshan city, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, was rescued by a young policemen who leapt after her rescue and her husband who had also dived to her aid. The incident, which happened on Thursday, was caused by a quarrel between the woman and her spouse, which led the wife to cross a busy road, stopping cars as she hastily made her way to the edge of the bridge, and eventually jump down. Her husband was seen following her, jumping off the 10-meter-high bridge. A 24-year-old traffic police officer reacted instinctively taking a dive with a ring buoy and saving the woman’s life. Motorcyclist killed after stunt

In the clip, filmed by a passerby on August 5, the man can be seen riding at high speed with both his feet on one side of the motorbike. Moments later, he fell off. The man, who does not appear to have been wearing a helmet, died in the incident. After investigation, police found that the rider was wholly liable.

Emirates flight catches fire at Dubai Airport

An Emirates flight en route from India appeared to catch fire while making an emergency landing at Dubai International airport on Wednesday. “We can confirm flight EK521 from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International,” the airline posted on their official Twitter account. “There were 275 passengers and crew on board. Our main priority now is the safety and well-being of all involved,” the post added. Emergency response teams have been activated and all passengers and crew have been safely evacuated, the Dubai Government Media Office said on their Twitter account.
