MS opens Wayamba River Project

The Wayamba River Project was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday. The project is made up of both small and large scale rivers numbering over 300. Eight large scale rivers will receive water covering an area of 12,000 hectares. The Wayamba project hopes to fill up the rivers through the Moragahakanda Reservoir that flow through the Kurunegala District. It is also the final chapter of the Mahaweli concept.
