Police -drug smugglers clash in Pannipitiya

Police clashed with drug smugglers in Ambagashathara, Pannipitiya this morning, resulting in a shoot out. Police said they received a tip-off that a vehicle smuggling heroin was to leave from a location at Ambagashathara, and had arrived at the location to investigate. The vehicle in question had however taken off without heeding Police instructions to stop. Police said they opened fire to stop the vehicle, to no avail.
