Hartal in Pettah against VAT

Shops in Pettah have been closed and the traders are staging a hartal against the recent increase in VAT. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the VAT increase imposed by the government. Traffic congestion is also reported in and around Colombo Fort due to the protest by the traders.
