Ex-Senior DIG Anura remanded
Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake was remanded till May 26 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris when the CID produced him in court yesterday over alleged suppression of facts about the Wasim Thajudeen killing, trying to mislead the judiciary and also ordering junior officers to obey his orders in doing so. The court was told that Senanayake had allegedly attempted to imply that former Havelocks SC rugger captain Thajudeen died on May 17, 2012 due to the injuries sustained in a car crash near the Shalika grounds. According to police, Senanayake allegedly ordered his junior officer Amarasiri Weeraratne (now DIG) to distort evidence.
