Thajudeen Case : Police officer Makes a confession
The police officer arrested in connection with the Thajudeen murder makes a confession The then Crime Branch OIC of Narahenpita police Sumith Champika Perera has confessed that he received instructions from his superiors to treat Wasim Thajudeen’s death as being caused by a motor accident and conduct investigations accordingly. He has confessed that the CID informed the facts to Court and, was instructed not to continue further investigations into the incident. Perera was arrested by the CID on April 20th for concealing evidence relating to the murder of Thajudeen. He is being remanded till May 5th after being produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
