Seya's murder: first two suspects released

Minuwangoda Magistrate D.A. Ruwanpathirana yesterday released two suspects, 17-year-old schoolboy and 31-year-old man arrested and remanded in connection with the abduction, rape and killing of five-year-old Seya last month. The Police Media Unit (PMU) said that the Magistrate had summoned the two suspects to his court after he had been informed that the DNA samples found on the child did not tally with theirs and then released them. The case was to be heard today (Oct. 02) after they were re-remanded on Monday even after the confession of the main suspect to the grave crime last week.
