Country before party; Let’s safeguard January 8th victory - Chandrika Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga says attempts being made by certain forces to destroy the opportunity to create a new nation, must be defeated. Issuing a communique, the former president points out that in order to protect the party, the primary objective should be to first build the nation and safeguard the victory secured on January 8. In addition, the former president appeals from all Sri Lanka Freedom Party supporters to join with the force and the leadership that won the January 8 polls, irrespective of race. She stressed the importance of defeating the all forces that are directed at spreading false rumours by terrorising the society, to ensure a bright future for the citizens of Sri Lanka.
