Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday remanded till Dec. 15, 2016, a 26-year-old man, for allegedly posing death threats to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition via Facebook. The suspect was arrested by the CID. The counsel for the suspect said the aforesaid death threats were not composed by the suspect and he had only copied them from a web. The CID said the Facebook post had suggested that the Presidential Security Division should come forward and kill the aforesaid leaders. The CID said investigations were on to find out whether the suspect was involved in criminal activity.
