No bail for Wimal’s brother

Sarath Weerawansa, brother of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa arrested for allegedly misusing two vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat and the Housing, Construction and Engineering Services Ministry incurring a loss of Rs 10.5 million to the government was yesterday ordered to be remanded till September 7 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne. Weerawansa was arrested by the FCID over the offences under the Public Property Act. Producing the suspect before Court, the FCID alleged that the suspect had misused these vehicles when he was functioning as a Private Secretary to then Minister Wimal Weerawansa during the former regime.
